RANCHI: Over a dozen candidates developed health issues, including vomiting and feeling of uneasiness, on the second day of the excise constable physical efficiency test on Wednesday, said officials, adding that all recovered soon after treatment at the medical camps and local hospitals.
The physical test is being conducted at six centres – Smart City Ranchi, Jharkhand Jaguar Ranchi, Police Line Giridih, Jharkhand Armed Police Training Centre Hazaribag, Constable Training Centre Musabani (East Sighbhum) and Jharkhand Armed Police-9 Sahibganj in the state.
According to officials, six candidates fainted on the track at Jharkhand Jaguar in Ranchi out which five recovered after being administered oxygen at the medical camp set up at the venue.
One candidate – Suraj Kumar – who is a native of Bhagalpul in Bihar, was sent to district hospital where he has recovered.
Jharkhand Jaguar SP said that a few candidates were sent to Sadar hospital for treatment and were discharged soon after, but civil surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar denied having any information about admissions.
“Unless I go through the admission register, it is difficult to say if anyone from the test centre was brought to the hospital,” he said.
Two candidates from Sahibganj and one each from Ranchi smart city and Giridih were also sent to local govt hospitals for treatment after they fell sick. The centre in-charges said that all of them are well now.
Four candidates each were also rushed to hospitals from Sahibganj and the Giridih centres on Wednesday though the state police had denied anyone being hospitalised.
The centre heads said that all of them have been discharged from hospital after recovery. Six aspirants also fell ill at Hazaribag centre. Dr S P Singh, civil surgeon of Hazaribag, said a five-member medical team promptly attended to these individuals and evaluated their health condition. All six aspirants were treated and allowed to complete their 10 km run in an hour.
Additional director general of Police, R K Mallick said, “I have asked all the centres to give report on hospitalisation each day. So far, I have not received the information for the day from them.”
