A 2-year-old migrant girl picked up at the US border claimed that she came unaccompanied to find her parents. The video of the toddler holding a piece of paper with a name and phone number written on it is going viral as 60 other unaccompanied minors have been detained after they crossed the border into Maverick County, Texas on Sunday. The Texas Department of Public Safety released the footage of the toddler answering the questions of the cops and asserting that she is alone.
“This is a stark example of the precarious journey these children make from their home country and how criminal organizations traffic these children across the southern border and further into the interior,” Lt. Chris Olivarez said in a post on X. “Regardless of political views, it is unacceptable for any child to be exposed to dangerous criminal trafficking networks.”
“Did you come by yourself?” the girl was asked to which she said ‘yes’. Then she said she is two years old and she came there all by herself. “Where are your parents?” the child was asked. “United States,” the toddler said.
Donald Trump’s ‘border czar’ Tom Homan already said he would crack down on illegal immigration and is planning to inspect the border with Texas Gov Greg Abbott. Abbott said Homan is the right guy in charge to secure the border and deport illegal migrants. “There’s a tall task for President Trump to find, to locate these people and then to deport them or to jail them,” Abbott said Sunday.
“We’ve got the right guy in charge of it. His name is Tom Homan. He’s going to be the border czar. I’ve already begun to work with him. He’s going to be joining me in Texas this coming week.”
Abbott earlier clashed with the outgoing Biden administration over its lax border policies and refusal to cooperate with Texas on a crackdown. “For one, we’re going to secure the border. For another, we’re going to have to remove from our country all these dangerous criminals to restore peace and safety in our communities.”
