30-year-old Delta Electronics' employee dies a day after manager denies sick leave request; read company's statement
A 30-year-old female employee at Delta Electronics Thailand died after being denied extra sick leave. She was hospitalised for an inflamed large intestine but had to return to work due to job security fears. She collapsed shortly after resuming work and died following emergency surgery. The company has expressed condolences and launched an investigation.

A 30-year-old female factory worker at an electronics manufacturing plant in Thailand passed away. According to a report by Bangkok Post, her death occurred after her manager denied additional sick leave. May, an employee at an electronics plant owned by Delta Electronics Thailand in Samut Prakan province, was reportedly hospitalised for four days due to an inflamed large intestine.
The report noted that she had to return to work in fear of losing her job, even though she was still unwell after being discharged.
Earlier this month, May reportedly requested another sick day, but her manager insisted she come to work and submit another medical certificate. As per the report, May joined back for duty the next day, only to collapse after 20 minutes. She underwent emergency surgery but succumbed to necrotising enterocolitis the same day.
Delta Electronics shared a post on Facebook to share its condolences for the factory worker’s death.
