AGRA: A seven-year-old child was allegedly beaten and subjected to cruelty by his teacher at a private school in the Lodha police station area of Aligarh after reportedly forgetting his school bag, police said on Wednesday.
The child returned home crying and recounted the incident to his mother, leading the family to file a complaint with the police, who started investigating the case on Monday.
Dilip Kumar, a resident of Bharat Nagla village in the Lodha police station area, said that his son, James, is a UKG student at a private school near Khereshwar Dham temple.
On the day of the incident, Dilip was out of town, and the child’s mother was unwell, so the child’s grandfather dropped him off at school.
The family alleged that the child had forgotten his school bag at home, prompting the teacher to beat him mercilessly. “The teacher beat him severely,” Dilip said.
“They removed his clothes and shoes, gave him electric shocks and subjected him to extreme cruelty.” Traumatised, the child returned home in tears during the school break and told his mother about the ordeal.
The child’s family immediately went to the school to protest and informed the police about the incident. Following the complaint, Lodha police station in-charge Rajveer Singh Parmar and his team arrived at the school and began their investigation.
“We have started questioning the school staff and administrators,” DSP Ranjan Sharma said. “A case will be registered based on the written complaint.”
The principal of the school denied the accusations, saying, “The complaints of the child being subjected to electric shock are wrong. We are ready to show CCTV footage. The allegations are unsubstantiated.”
