Forest Staff Member Rescues 150kg Crocodile in Hamirpur | Kanpur News – Times of India

Uttar Pradesh: Forest department staffer carries 150kg crocodile on shoulder; video viral

KANPUR: A Forest department staff member in Hamirpur district became an internet sensation when he was observed carrying an enormous live crocodile, measuring 20 feet and weighing 150 kg, on his shoulder, leaving spectators astonished.
The widely circulated social media video depicted the individual, reportedly a forest department staff member, transporting the reptile that caused panic among village residents over the previous three weeks.
About three weeks ago, a crocodile appeared in the pond located near the pasture by the Betwa River in Puthiya Khurd village. Local residents approaching the pond to collect water had to find other sources as the crocodile established dominance over the area.
Forest department personnel, upon receiving alerts, monitored the crocodile’s activities for multiple days. They subsequently devised a strategy to trap and transfer it to a different location, with assistance from the village community. The team finally captured the reptile on Monday.
Forest officer JP Singh stated that it was later released at the confluence of the Betwa and Yamuna rivers. “A team was also called from Mahoba to catch the crocodile, including,” Singh added.
