‘You probably have 20 more Olympics ahead of you’: Novak Djokovic pens message for Carlos Alcaraz | Paris Olympics 2024 News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Novak Djokovic secured the Olympic gold medal in men’s singles tennis, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
The victory marked a significant achievement for Djokovic, adding the elusive Olympic gold to his extensive list of accolades.
Djokovic celebrated his Olympic triumph by praising his young rival Carlos Alcaraz in a heartfelt message on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Another epic final, @carlosalcaraz. El clasico. Congratulations to you and your team for an excellent Olympics. Considering your age, your energy and the way you play, you probably have 20 more Olympics ahead of you ??. Your gold will come. Until next time, amigo,” Djokovic wrote on X.

The final, a tightly contested match between the world’s top two players, ended with a scoreline of 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2) in favour of Djokovic.
Despite a 16-year age difference, Djokovic demonstrated his experience and resilience, overcoming the challenge posed by the rising star, Alcaraz.
Djokovic’s victory at the Olympics follows a period of relative underperformance earlier in the year, making the triumph particularly noteworthy.
His emotional reaction upon winning, visibly shaken and lying on the court, revealed the profound significance of the victory for the Serbian champion.
Despite the loss, Alcaraz, at 20 years old, is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in tennis. His performance at the Olympics further solidified this perception, showcasing his potential to dominate the sport in the future.
With 24 Grand Slam titles, numerous Masters 1000 titles, and now an Olympic gold medal, Djokovic’s achievements speak for themselves, placing him firmly in the pantheon of tennis legends.
