NEW DELHI: An Air Force sergeant allegedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound early Wednesday morning at the Maintenance Command Center in Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur, police said.
Javeer Singh, 36, from Bhiwani, Haryana, reportedly used his service weapon to shoot himself in the head around 2 am, according to an official from Gittikhadan police station. The gunshot sound alerted other personnel, who discovered him lying in a pool of blood.
Singh’s colleagues told police that he appeared stressed over the past two days, but the exact cause of the suicide has yet to be determined, the official said, as reported by news agency PTI.
Singh’s body was transported to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the incident.
