Bangladesh army carries out major reshuffle in top command amid unrest – Times of India

Bangladesh conducted a major reshuffle in its highest army positions on Tuesday, following prime minister Sheikh Hasina‘s resignation and escape from the country amid violent protests over a controversial job quota system.
Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan, head of the national telecommunication monitoring centre (NTMC), has been removed from service.
The Dhaka Tribune reported this development, referencing a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Department (ISPR) – the Army’s media wing.

  • Lt Gen Md Saiful Alam has been reassigned to the foreign ministry.

  • Lt Gen Md Mojibur Rahman is now appointed as the general officer commanding (GOC) for army training and doctrine command.

  • Lt Gen Ahmad Tabrez Shams Chowdhury has become the Quartermaster General of the Army.

  • Lt Gen Mizanur Rahman Shamim has been named chief of general staff of the army.

  • Lt Gen Mohammad Shahinul Haque has been designated as the commandant of the national defence college (NDC).

  • Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman has taken over as director general of the NTMC.
