The 27-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate who allegedly took the life of Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of UnitedHealthcare, began his plotting as far back as August, a notebook that belongs to him has revealed. The murder triggered a celebration exposing the frustration of the Americans toward the health insurance companies but Luigi Mangione was never insured by UnitedHealthcare which confused the investigators about his exact motive to target Brian Thompson.

Brian Thompson and Luigi Mangione had no personal enmity and they did not know each other, the investigators can now confirm. The notebook which is the latest discovery by the investigators is filled with Mangione’s angry rants against the health insurance industry. In an entry in the notebook dated August 15, he wrote that he was glad that he dragged his feet in preparing to kill Brian Thompson as he got more time to learn about UnitedHealthcare.
“The target is insurance,” he allegedly wrote, adding that UnitedHealthcare “checks every box.”

In the notebook, he wrote about an upcoming conference where he planned to “wack” the CEO if one of the insurance companies in attendance. This entry was made on October 22. And the murder took place on December 4. It has not yet been revealed how he knew Brian Thompson’s arrival time at the conference at the Hilton Hotel.

Luigi Mangione had a massive spinal injury which almost left him incapacitated. But it is not yet revealed whether he went through any hardship for the treatment and regarding insurance. He read a number of books related to health insurance, his reading list revealed. His backpain was seen to be one of the main reasons for his frustration with the medical insurance industry but UnitedHealthcare was not involved in his treatment or medical insurance.
