A 45-year-old man, Khairuha Baiga, lost his life to a tiger in the Khitoli range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Umaria district.
Additionally, a 55-year-old farmer, Sukhram Uikey, was killed in Balaghat while he was working in his agricultural field in Ambejhari village under Tirodi tehsil on Sunday afternoon.
Swasti Shri Jain, Khitoli range officer said that Baiga disappeared on Friday after leaving his brother-in-law’s residence for work.
A skull, hand fragments and clothing were discovered behind a resort in the Kuluhabah area on Sunday.
Family members confirmed the remains belonged to Baiga. Jain confirmed that tiger pugmarks were discovered in the vicinity.
The range officer reported that a forest team has been deployed to locate the tiger to prevent future human-wildlife conflicts.
Meanwhile, Balaghat’s Sub Divisional Officer of Forest Department BR Sirsam reported that Uikey was attacked around 3 pm on Sunday while he was in his field. When family members reached the field, they found a tiger eating Uikey’s body.
