First Anime Commander! Hatsune Miku Full Decklist Revealed

Hatsune Miku Joins Magic: The Gathering with Her Own Commander Deck!

TL;DR: The world-famous virtual singer Hatsune Miku gets her very own ready-to-play Magic: The Gathering Commander deck! It launches August 10, 2026 with a special 24-hour order window. The deck focuses on playing lots of creatures, gaining life, and overwhelming opponents. It comes packed with gorgeous new Japanese artwork, foil borderless lands, and helpful tokens—all for $149.99.

What Is This All About? (ELI5 Version)

Imagine a trading card game where you build a deck of 100 cards led by a special leader called a Commander. You play with friends, each starting at 40 life, and the last one standing wins. That’s Commander format—the most popular way to play Magic: The Gathering (MTG).

Secret Lair is a special shop run by Wizards of the Coast (the makers of MTG) that sells limited-edition, super-pretty versions of cards.

Hatsune Miku is a global superstar—a virtual singer (Vocaloid) with turquoise twin-tails who has performed holographic concerts worldwide, inspired countless songs, and has a massive wardrobe of iconic outfits.

Now, these three worlds collide: Miku gets her own Secret Lair Commander Deck!

Meet the New Secret Lair Director: Matthew Hodgins

A Quick Aside from the Boss

Hi! I’m Matthew Hodgins, the new director of Secret Lair. I’ve been at Wizards for nearly 15 years, working behind the scenes on huge crossover sets like Final Fantasy, Lord of the Rings, and Fallout. I love Magic—proposed to my wife on a Magic card! Taking over Secret Lair is a dream.

We’re trying something new: a 24-hour order window for this deck. This is an experiment (sparked by the high demand for the Goblin Storm deck) to help more fans actually buy playable products. If it works, we might make a special storefront for these sales. If not, we’ll rethink. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

The Deck: "Miku, Song of the People"

Your Commander (the leader of your deck) is Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice, renamed and reimagined as "Miku, Song of the People."

The Game Plan (Simple Strategy)

  1. Play creatures – Every creature you summon triggers Miku’s ability.
  2. Gain life – Miku gives you life whenever another creature enters your side.
  3. Build a massive board – Use that life to fuel powerful effects.
  4. Overwhelm opponents – Your creatures get huge, your life total soars, and enemies run out of answers.

Think of it like a concert: Each creature is a fan joining the show. The more fans show up, the louder (stronger) the performance gets!

Star Performers (Key Cards Explained Simply)

Card Why It’s Cool
Archangel of Thune When you gain life, all your creatures get +1/+1 counters (permanent power-ups).
Crested Sunmare At the end of each turn, if you gained life, make a 5/5 Horse token. Free army!
Voice of the Blessed Gains life → gets +1/+1 counters + flying + vigilance + lifelink. Snowballs fast.
Aetherflux Reservoir Pay 50 life → deal 50 damage to any target. Win the game instantly!
Mirari’s Wake Doubles your mana and gives all creatures +1/+1. Double the fun.
Finale of Devastation Tutor for a creature, then if you spent 10+ mana, give all creatures +X/+X and haste. Grand finale!
Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger Doubles your mana, halves opponents’. Ruthless diva energy.

Amazing New Artwork

This deck features 14 brand-new borderless illustrations by celebrated Japanese artists:

  • KEI – Miku’s original software package illustrator (drew the commander!)
  • 八三 / HASSAN – Fan-favorite artist
  • さいとうなおき / NAOKI SAITO – Renowned illustrator

The basic lands (Plains & Forests) show Miku performing in nature—warm, character-focused, and frame-worthy.

Two Special Reprints (No Planeswalker Stamp)

  • Growing Ranks – Populate (copy a token) each upkeep.
  • Phyrexian Processor – Pay life to make giant Minion tokens.

72 Planeswalker-Stamp Reprints

The other reprints carry a Planeswalker symbol (same stamp used in Mystery Booster 2 and prior Secret Lair Commander decks) so you know they’re from this product. Full list includes staples like:

  • Sol Ring, Skullclamp, Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile
  • Cultivate, Farseek, Nature’s Lore, Explore (ramp)
  • Soul Warden, Prosperous Innkeeper, Suture Priest (life gain)
  • Rhys the Redeemed, Gruff Triplets, Fanatic of Rhonas (tokens)
  • Shamanic Revelation, Camaraderie (card draw)
  • Hour of Reckoning, Sundering Growth, Break Down (removal)
  • Gavony Township, Rogue’s Passage, Command Tower (lands)
  • …and many more!

Beginner Tip: “Ramp” = cards that help you get more mana faster. “Token” = a creature marker created by a spell/ability, not a card from your deck.

Tokens to Help You Play

The deck makes lots of creature tokens. To keep the game smooth, you get 10 double-sided tokens (art from past MTG sets):

Front Back
Phyrexian Minion (SLD) Angel (LCI)
Phyrexian Minion (SLD) Pegasus (KHC)
Citizen (SNC) Angel (MH3)
Citizen (SNC) Dinosaur (MOM)

Vampire (MOM) Horse (HOU)
Vampire (MOM) Elemental (RTR)
Fanatic of Rhonas (MH3) Elemental (2XM)

Codes in parentheses = original set the art came from.

FAQ

1. Do I need to know how to play Magic to enjoy this?

Not at all! This is a ready-to-play deck. Open it, shuffle, and play. The rules are learnable in 15 minutes (or watch a “How to Play Commander” video on YouTube). The Miku theme makes it extra fun for fans!

2. What does “borderless” mean?

The artwork extends all the way to the edges of the card—no black or white frame. It looks like a mini poster. Foil means it’s shiny/holographic.

3. Can I use the display commander in a real game?

No. The oversized “Miku, Song of the People” card is for display only. The actual commander you play with is the regular-sized Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice card included in the 100-card deck.

4. Why is there a 24-hour window instead of pre-orders?

Secret Lair is experimenting to meet high demand fairly (after the Goblin Storm deck sold out instantly). This lets them print exactly how many people want it during that day. It’s a test—feedback matters!

5. Will this deck be legal in tournaments?

Yes. All 100 cards (except the display commander) are legal in Commander format. The Planeswalker-stamp reprints are tournament-legal versions of existing cards.

6. What if I miss the window?

You’ll have to wait for a potential future reprint (not guaranteed) or buy from secondary markets (likely at a markup). Sign up for notifications and set an alarm!

Final Encore: Whether you’re a Miku superfan, a Commander enthusiast, or just love beautiful cards—this deck hits all the right notes.
See you at the Secret Lair on August 10th!
