India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show for his side in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2024. Bumrah was the key for India as he was supremely economical and also picked up wickets at crucial junctures. Bumrah, who is considered to be the best of the generation, lavished praise and explained the difference between MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as captains. In an interaction on The Indian Express, Bumrah claims Rohit as a captain has empathy towards bowlers. He also admits that Kohli is aggressive, even if he is not the captain. Bumrah also went on to reveal that Dhoni, when captain, gave him a lot of security.

Rohit (Sharma) is one of the few captains who has empathy towards bowlers, despite being a batsman. He understands players’ emotions, and knows what a player is going through. Rohit is not rigid, he is open to feedback. MS (Dhoni) gave me a lot of security, quickly. He has a lot of faith in his instinct, and doesn’t believe in a lot of planning. Virat (Kohli) is energy-driven, passionate, wears his heart on his sleeve. He pushed us in terms of fitness, and changed the narrative that way. Now Virat is not the captain, but he is still a leader. Captaincy is a post, but a team is run by 11 people.

What is Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit doing currently?
Dhoni has already retired from international cricket and features on in the IPL. It is unclear if Dhoni would feature for CSK in next year’s IPL or not at the age of 43.
On the other hand, Rohit and Kohli have retired from T20I cricket after India’s World Cup triumph recently. The two Indian cricketing stalwarts would still continue to feature in Tests and ODIs.
