AHMEDABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy to very heavy rain alert for Gujarat on Tuesday, prompting the closure of numerous schools across various regions of the state as heavy rainfall persists.
Waterlogging has been reported in multiple areas of Gujarat, including Rajkot and Vadodara. In Vadodara, residential areas are facing waterlogging due to the overflowing of the Vishwamitri River.
The incessant heavy rainfall has led to the release of water from the Ajwa Reservoir and Pratappura Reservoir into the Vishwamitri River, contributing to the waterlogging situation.
For the next four days, some districts that are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall include Anand, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Kutch, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Junagadh, Amreli, Kutch, and Botad among others.
Gujarat has been witnessing heavy rainfall over the past two days, leading to parts of Gujarat being inundated and displacing hundreds of residents to safer locations.
