The Match: Game-by-Game Breakdown (ELI5 Style)

Think of each game like a best-of-three boxing match, but with 5 players per team controlling fantasy heroes.

Game 1: Falcons Dominate Early

  • Falcons’ Strategy: “Tri-core” = three super-strong damage dealers (Sven, Earthshaker, Razor).
  • Liquid’s Strategy: Teamfight lineup (Lina, Invoker, Underlord, Spirit Breaker, Rubick).
  • What Happened: Falcons crushed the early game. They hunted Liquid’s heroes all over the map.
  • Gold Lead: Falcons ended with +89,000 gold—the biggest lead in TI 2026 so far.
  • Result: Falcons win in 55 minutes.

Key Stat: Skiter (Falcons carry) went 16 kills / 5 deaths / 10 assists.

Game 2: Liquid Strikes Back

  • Liquid’s New Draft: High mobility + burst damage (Windranger, Earth Spirit, Underlord, Tusk, Hoodwink).
  • Falcons’ Draft: Tried to match aggression (Sven, Lina, Centaur, Enchantress, Bane).
  • What Happened: Liquid dominated lanes, hit their “power spike” (when heroes get strong), and smashed teamfights.
  • Result: Liquid wins in 34 minutes (much faster!).
  • Kill Score: Liquid 40–11.

Key Stat: miCKe (Liquid carry) went 10 kills / 2 deaths / 17 assists.

Game 3: The Decider — Liquid Outsmarts Falcons in the Draft

  • Falcons First-Picked: Lifestealer (their signature carry hero) for Skiter.
  • Liquid’s Counter: Picked Centaur Warrunner (good vs Lifestealer) → swapped it to support Boxilast-picked Viper (hard counter to Lifestealer) for Ace.
  • Liquid’s Cores: Faceless Void (miCKe), Lina (Nisha), Hoodwink (tOfu).
  • What Happened: Liquid bullied Falcons’ cores in lanes. By mid-game, Falcons’ heroes were too weak to fight Void + two ranged cores.
  • Result: Liquid wins in 42 minutesSeries 2–1 to Liquid.

Key Stat: Nisha (Liquid mid) went 10 kills / 5 deaths / 17 assists in the clincher.

FAQ

What is the “Aegis of Champions”?

It’s the physical trophy the winning team gets. It’s a giant shield with the game’s logo. Winning it means you’re the world champion for that year.

What does “lower bracket” mean?

TI uses double elimination. Lose once → you go to the lower bracket (second chance). Lose again → you’re out. The upper bracket team has to be beaten twice in the grand finals.

What’s a “reverse sweep”?

When a team loses the first game(s) in a best-of-three or best-of-five, then wins all the remaining games to take the series. Liquid did this vs. Aurora Gaming (0–1 → 2–1) and Falcons did it vs. Nigma (1–0 → 1–2 loss).

Who are the “cores” and “supports”?

  • Cores (positions 1–3): Heroes that need gold/items to deal damage late game.
  • Supports (positions 4–5): Heroes that help early, buy wards, don’t need much farm.
  • In Game 3, Liquid tricked Falcons by picking Centaur (looks like a core) but playing him as support.

How can I watch TI 2026?

  • In-game via Dota 2 client (best quality, free).
  • Twitch / YouTube (official Valve channels).
  • GosuGamers Telegram for quick updates: t.me/GosuGamersDota2

Enjoy the rest of TI 2026!
