LUCKNOW: The war of words between Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav grew shriller on Wednesday, with the two trading fresh barbs on the issue of bulldozer action, and Akhilesh daring Yogi to start a party with a bulldozer symbol and suggesting in a social media post widely believed to be aimed at the CM that he would anyway have to start his own party.
In an apparent reference to Akhilesh’s comment that immediately after an SP govt is formed after the 2027 assembly polls all bulldozers in the state will be directed towards Gorakhpur, the CM said: “Ab Tipu bhi chale sultan banne’ (Now Tipu too wants to become an emperor).” Tipu happens to be Akhilesh Yadav’s nickname.
Yogi said everyone could not get the bulldozer moving. It requires both “dil” and “dimaag” (heart and mind), he said, adding that “only those who have these two qualities can operate it”.
Later, Akhilesh said: “If you and your bulldozers are so successful then form a separate party which has a bulldozer as its symbol and contest elections. The result will shatter your misconceptions and delusions. As on date the situation is that you are in BJP but for name’s sake only. Sooner or later you will have to form a separate party.”
