Lando Norris Grabs Pole At Hungary GP As McLaren Lock Out Front Row, Perez Crashes Out Again



Lando Norris set the fastest lap of Qualifying at 1:15:227 as he grabbed his third pole position in Formula 1 and his second pole in four races at Hungary GP qualifying 2024. 

Lando Norris’ McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri beat championship leader and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to P2 as Papaya outfit completed a front row lockout.

Lando Norris and McLaren backed up their excellent pace from FP3 as they will start the Grand Prix 1st and 2nd. McLaren made a statement to Red Bull once again that they are catching onto them in the Constructors Championship. This marks only the third time McLaren have locked out the front row in to start an F1 race. 

Max Verstappen was left frustrated once again as his pace just wasn’t enough to get his Red Bull to the pole position. 

Max Verstappen admitted that post qualifying that at the moment Red Bull are chasing McLaren in terms of pace. However, they will fancy themselves in the race tomorrow as McLaren have had their troubled in converting good pace to race wins this season. 

Sergio Perez crashes once again

While Max Verstappen’s splendid season continues, there is a major concern for Red Bull on the other side of the garage as Sergio Perez crashed out once again in qualifying costing his team dearly in Constructors championship. 

As both McLaren seem to be getting faster every weekend, Red Bull need both drivers firing and on top. However, Sergio Perez ran into the barriers in Q1 of the qualifying session and will now be starting the race tomorrow in P15.

This will mount increasing pressure on Sergio Perez as his Red Bull seat is under the threat. The man touted to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull, Daniel Ricciardo on the other hand enjoyed a splendid qualifying session. 

Daniel Ricciardo managed to put his RB car into the Q3 and qualified P9. Ricciardo also showed flashes of great pace when he set the fastest time in Q1. 

Ricciardo’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda will start the race in P10 but he endured a massive shunt in Q3 as his RB ruptured the barriers causing a lengthy delay.
