LUCKNOW: Referring to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi as an “accidental Hindu” who was raised “in Roman culture,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that such a person could not accept the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Addressing election rallies in Haryana, the CM said: “The 500-year-long wait has ended, and on Jan 22, 2024, Lord Shri Ram Lalla was enthroned in Ayodhya Dham by PM Narendra Modi. While the world celebrated the historic event, Congress could not stand this joy. This highlights the contrast between Ram’s culture and Roman culture.”
Without naming Gandhi, but alluding to his maternal ancestry, the CM compared him with Modi, saying that a person nurtured in Ram’s culture fought relentlessly to uphold the honour of Lord Ram, but the “accidental Hindu” raised in Roman culture could not bear the sight of the enthronement of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. “Jo Ram ka nahi, woh humare kisi kaam ka nahi (Those who do not belong to Ram are of no use to us),” he said.
Attacking Congress further, the CM said that by insulting Hindus, criticising Sanatan culture, and under mining constitutional institutions while abroad, it was calling into question its own credibility.
In Bawani Khera, the CM warned people that if Congress came to office, it would betray the country. He accused Congress of filling its own coffers rather than pursuing development and welfare of the poor.
Congress mother of terrorism and corruption in country: CM
He further accused Congress of giving Muslims the first right to the country’s resources, while PM Modi believed that the first right on resources belongs to the poor, marginalised, Dalits, and the backward sections of society.
“While PM Modi i s focused on building the nation, the Congress, which ruled for 60 to 65 years, repeatedly looted the country, sending money to Swiss banks and other foreign locations. During the Covid-19 pandemic, BJP workers followed the mantra of ‘Seva hi Sang athan’ while Rahul Gandhi was nowhere to be seen. In moments of crisis, he remembers his grandmother in Italy, not India,” he said.
Yogi credited BJP for having constructed the Ram temple and abolishing Article 370. Despite BR Ambedkar’s opposition, Congress included Article 370 in the Constitution to maintain relations with Kashmir, which ultimately led to the rise of terrorism in the country, he said, adding that the party had also fostered a divisive environment among Hindus, leading to internal conflicts within the community.
Giving the example of UP, the CM said that there had been no riots in the past 7.5 years. Alleging that Congress had provided refuge to mafia in UP, the CM said that it had business partnerships with them.
Describing Haryana as ‘veerbhoomi,’ the CM said that the efforts of the hardworking farmers to feed the country were commendable while soldiers from Haryana were protecting the bor der and giving Pakistan a tough time. He said that Mahatma Gandhi believed that the foundation of good governance in India could only be Ram Rajya. Calling Congress the problem, he said that BJP was the solution. “Congress is the mother of terrorism, extremism, and corruption in the country. Those who talk about Rome and Italy should go there. Why do they seek votes in Haryana, Hansi, and Hisar?” he said.
Recalling an anecdote from Jammu airport recently, the CM said: “A Maulana greeted me with Ram-Ram. I was surprised and asked an officer if all the Maulvis here say Ram-Ram. He rep lied that this was the effect of the rem ova l of Article 370 from the state. Those who once cursed Ram, Krishna, and India are now saying RamRam.” He added that the stronger the BJP becomes, the stronger India will be, and as India grows stronger, one would witness more bhajans of Hare Rama-Hare Krishna on the streets.
