Liquor smugglers attack cops in Bihar; sub-inspector injured | India News – Times of India

Liquor smugglers in dry Bihar attacked a police team, out to arrest a wanted criminal, with sharp weapons, resulting in critical injuries to a sub-inspector in Katihar district early on Thursday .
“The team had gone to arrest Chandan Murmu in Semapur on Wednesday. Smugglers and a few locals attacked the cops before they could step out of the vehicle.Raids are on to nab Murmu, and those involved in the attack,” Salemapur police outpost incharge Hari Prasad Yadav said.
The attackers even tried to snatch police rifles, forcing the police team to retreat. Sub-inspector Dashrath Kumar was admitted to a local hospital with head injuries, but his condition was stable, Yadav added. This marks the second attack on police by liquor mafia in Katihar within two days.
