'Differences natural in a family': RSS scotches talk of rift with BJP

NEW DELHI: Ahead of state elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, RSS has dispelled notions of discord with BJP, particularly following remarks by party president J P Nadda which suggested that BJP was “self-sufficient” and did not require the Sangh’s support.
RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale addressed the issue in Mathura, clarifying that the Sangh understood Nadda’s intentions. “We understand the sentiment behind his comments. It’s about fostering independence, not about severing ties. I visited him for a meal at his residence, highlighting our familial bond. Differences in a family are natural and are resolved privately. The Sangh does not engage in public disputes.”
Hosabale’s comments came in the wake of BJP’s below par performance in Lok Sabha elections, where some analysts suggested that a perceived lack of enthusiasm from RSS might have contributed to the party’s reduced numbers. However, Hosabale clarified Nadda’s stance and said, “His message was about BJP standing on its own feet, which is a reflection of strength, not a sign of division.” He dismissed media reports of friction between the two organisations as attempts to sow discord, asserting that unity was paramount for any organisation’s success.
The clarification could bolster BJP’s campaign in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, where RSS enjoys significant grassroots support. The strategic alignment is poised to influence the polls, showcasing a united front between BJP and RSS.
