KANPUR: A student has filed a complaint against sub-inspector for thrashing him and placing a pistol into his mouth in the Nawabganj police area of the city.
The additional DCP will conduct an investigation into the incident before taking appropriate action.
The incident occurred in the Nawabganj area of the city where the student filed a complaint against the public relations officer of DCP for physically assaulting him along with the help of other police personnel. The SI threatened to kill him by inserting a pistol into his mouth during the assault, the student alleged. When he did not get any response at the police station, the student sought intervention from the office of Commissioner of Police, and the case was transferred to additional DCP Central for investigation.
Complainant Kunal Kumar, resident of Dadiyapura Chaudhary Bagh, Jhansi, stated in his complaint that on October 26, sub-inspector Nikhil Sharma arrived at his room along with three constables and a few people and began assaulting him. Nikhil Sharma placed a pistol into his mouth and used casteist remarks against him, the student alleged. The ADCP has been asked to investigate the matter, said DCP West Rajesh Singh. Complainant Kunal and his friend Sachin Chandra who are pursuing second-year Bachelor of Vocational Studies at Kanpur University, live as tenants in Ganganagar Society in Patrakarpuram. The accused police officer Nikhil Sharma, also resides in the same society with his family.
