Pictures of tech billionaire Elon Musk‘s college physics homework have recently surfaced online. The posts have even prompted a response from the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Musk. The images, shared by a user on social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter), showcase detailed handwritten calculations that Musk recognised as his own. Musk clarified that the homework involved the complex topic of deriving moments of inertia from first principles, a concept related to the rotational motion of objects. He also noted that some pages were missing from the shared document.

”Some of Elon Musk’s physics homework from his days at the University of Pennsylvania,” X user Dima Zeniuk wrote while sharing the photos.
The post also caught the eyes of Musk who explained: “Derivation of moments of inertia from first principles. There are some pages missing from the post.”
Later on, Zeniuk added two more pages of Musk’s handwritten college homework. He wrote:
How users reacted to the post
The original post has gone viral with nearly 60,000 views and has also attracted several comments.
“Looks like a computation of inertia tensor,” said one user, replying to the post.
Another user commented: “I’d like to frame this .. it makes me happy .. “hey, it works!”
A third user expressed curiosity and asked: “Elon Musk has kept his notes and that’s nice. How did you get access to it?”
Meanwhile, a fourth user wrote: “Checking out Elon Musk’s old physics homework from UPenn really shows where the seeds of his genius were planted!
A fifth user also made it simpler for others to understand Musk’s homework. He explained: “For those confused, it’s the derivation of I the mass moment of inertia of a flat square plate. Think F=ma but for rotation. Torque = I * angular acceleration.”
