People wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. Clean the house and visit temple to worship Lord Vishnu and light a diya in front of the idol. A large number of devotees visit Ganga Ghats to take a holy dip in Ganga river. People perform various religious and spiritual activities such as hawan, yagya, donations, charity, observing fast and performing satyanarayan vrat. This day is considered auspicious to offer prayers to Lord Vishnu. Devotees light diyas and lights on this auspicious day. Devotees must perform perform puja to Moon God also by offering Arghya.
