It’s almost time for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series to begin, with the first match all set to happen in Perth. Former cricketers have been offering their take on what could happen in the series. But the banter between Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan is unmissable.

Former Cricketers Engage In Heated Battle As IND vs AUS BGT Test Series Approaches

Ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series, the banter among the legends has begun as former cricketers have begun to offer their take as India gears up for the Australia challenge. Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer claimed that the pressure leans more towards Australia as they cannot afford to lose another series as heads would roll. Jaffer also claimed that Team India had nothing to lose as they moved into the tournament.

“I think there’s more pressure on Aus than Ind. Aus haven’t beaten Ind in 10 years. They lost back to back at home. If they lose one more, heads are going to roll. They’ve few ageing superstars who won’t get another crack at Ind if they lose. India have nothing to lose,” Wasim Jaffer tweeted on ‘X’ [Formerly known as Twitter]

But Michael Vaughan was quick to clap back on Jaffer’s remark as he was thoroughly against the notion that India had nothing to lose. he pointed out that the Men in Blue are coming off a heavy whitewash and there is a lot at stake as they cannot take another pounding.

“Of course India have something to Lose Wasim .. they have just been white washed at home .. they cant afford another heavy beating,” Vaughan noted.

The pressure remains on both sides as Australia seeks to bring the Border-Gavaskar Trophy back home, while Team India seeks to defend it and also overcome the recent whitewash at the hands of New Zealand. The anticipation is at an all-time high as Perth’s Optus Stadium is all set for action. The Jasprit Bumrad-led Men in Blue will battle the Pat Cummins-led Australian side in the opening Test match on November 22, 2024.
