Adani US indictment: Order probe as Tamil Nadu named, CPM tells DMK govt

CHENNAI: Reacting to the alleged bribery case involving Adani Group, CPM’s Tamil Nadu secretary K Balakrishnan Friday urged the state govt to investigate allegations that Tamil Nadu was among five states that had signed power sale agreement with SECI.
“The state should initiate action against those involved and make its findings public besides revoking the contract to purchase power at a higher rate from the group,” he said.
The CPM neta said Centre procured electricity from private firms and sold it to state govts at higher rates. “Since Tamil Nadu is one of the states getting power from central grid, state govt should clarify this. Higher power charges affect small & micro industries.”
State minister V Senthil Balaji has maintained that there is “no direct contact with Adani’s firm” and TN had inked a pact with SECI at a competitive price of Rs 2.61 per unit. TNN
