Amazon founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos has a morning rule to start their mornings right, his fiancée Lauren Sánchez has revealed. According to an interview, she said that Bezos morning routine include no phones after they wake up.
“My favorite part of the day is the morning,” Sanchez told PEOPLE.
“I love waking up. I make myself a cup of coffee. I make Jeff a cup of coffee, and we kind of have this magic moment where it’s just us talking,” she noted, adding that if it were up to her, she’d probably reach for her device and start flipping through it..
“The kids haven’t woken up yet. And we don’t get on our phones. That’s one of the rules,” Sanchez added. “He definitely made that rule. It wasn’t me. But the mornings are just us for as long as we can.”
The relationship of Bezos and Sanchez went public in 2019 and culminated in an engagement in 2023.

Bezos reads newspaper in the morning

During a 2018 speech, Bezos revealed he starts his day leisurely by reading the newspaper, enjoying coffee, and having breakfast with his children. He referred to this as his “puttering time,” claiming it boosts his energy and enhances his decision-making.
“I’m not as productive as you might think,” he said at that time, before sharing his morning routine of waking up early and exercising most days.
“I move pretty slowly in the first couple of hours. I get up early, just naturally. And then, you know, I exercise most days,” he added.
