Apple has started rolling out the iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 updates for iPhones and iPads. The company is asking iPhone and iPad users to download and install the latest updates immediately, as they fix important security fixes to iPhones and iPads. These minor updates, released three week’s after the release of iOS 18.1 update, don’t add any new features and are primarily focused on enhancing device security. However, it’s important to note that Apple initially launched the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates in September.
What Apple said about these updates
To maintain device security, Apple strongly recommends all users update to iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1. These updates address crucial security vulnerabilities.
For users still on iOS 17, Apple has also released iOS 17.7.2, which provides similar security enhancements.
Neither update introduces new features; however, they are critical for ensuring device safety.
In its blog post, Apple wrote: “For our customers’ protection, Apple doesn’t disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available. Recent releases are listed on the Apple security releases page.
Apple security documents reference vulnerabilities by CVE-ID when possible.”
