Attempting to click picture, Pune woman falls into gorge at 'banned' Borne Ghat
Nasreen Amir Kureshi, 29, from Pune, slipped into a 50-foot gorge at Borne Ghat while taking a selfie. Her group had detoured there after learning Thoseghar waterfall was closed due to heavy rains

PUNE: A 29-year-old woman, Nasreen Amir Kureshi from Warje, Pune, fell approximately 50 feet into a densely vegetated gorge at Borne Ghat while attempting to take a picture.
The incident occurred after she and her friends decided to stop for a photo session on their return from Thoseghar waterfall, which had been shut for tourists due to heavy rains and winds.
The Satara administration had banned tourist visits to the waterfall owing to the challenging weather conditions. With their initial plan cancelled, the group visited Borne Ghat instead. While taking pictures, Kureshi slipped from the edge and fell into the gorge.
Her friends immediately contacted the police, who initiated a prompt rescue operation. Local volunteers and home guards quickly responded to the distress call. Homeguard Abhijeet Mandave led the rescue team through the difficult terrain and successfully retrieved Kureshi.
She was then taken to a private hospital for treatment of her injuries.
