Refuting the allegations, the company in late stock filing on Friday, said: “It has come to our attention that there are certain allegations pertaining to payment of rent by Carol Info Services Limited and its connection with certain orders passed by SEBI in relation to the Company.In this regard, we categorically deny these allegations and state that these allegations are completely baseless and misleading.”
On Friday, Congress media and publicity department head, Pawan Khera, asserted that from 2018 to 2024, Madhabi Buch, in her roles as a whole-time member and later chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), received Rs 2.16 crore in rental income from Carol Info Services, affiliated with Wockhardt. “This matter related to SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Buch ji is very serious. Every day we are getting new information related to this issue. Crores of people of the country trust SEBI. If a question mark is raised on this, then the investment of the public will be put into question,” Khera had said.
Mumbai-based Wockhardt was under SEBI’s scrutiny for several cases, including insider trading in 2023, Khera noted during a press conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi.
