The 75-year-old actor for $10.8 million in 2022, and since then he, his wife Alejandra Silva, and their two kids have been living in the house. A report by the Independent states that Gere bought the home from Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, who had owned it for 17 years.
Built in 1938, the house has six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a 3-bedroom guest cottage, a pool, and multiple gardens. Spanning over the 32-acre area, the property offers a sight to sore eyes owing to the surrounding dense trees.
Circling back to Richard Gere’s decision to move to Spain. In April, the actor mentioned he wants to live closer to his wife Silva’s family. Silva is originally from La Coruña, Spain, but since 2018, she has been living in the United States as that was the year she tied the knot with Gere.
Gere believes that getting closer to Silva’s family, her lifelong friends and an introduction to her culture would be a great experience, reports Vanity Fari Spain. Further, according to the Independent, The ‘Runaway Bride’ star also feels that since his wife has generously given six years of her life to his world, it is more than fitting that he reciprocates the same by living in her place of comfort for at least six more.
Gere met Silva in the year 2014, in Positano, Italy. Back then the actor was still married to his second wife, Carey Lowell. In 2018, the couple took the leap of faith and got married. They have two lovely children – James, 4, and Alexander, 5, who they will take with them to Spain. While arrangements are being made to make this Spain adventure a reality, Richard Gere is staying in his country home in New York.
