Ben Stokes' home burglary leads to suspect's arrest

Authorities have detained a suspect following a burglary at England cricket captain Ben Stokes’ home. The incident took place on October 17 while Stokes was away in Pakistan for Test matches. His wife and children were at the family’s Castle Eden residence in County Durham when masked intruders broke in.
Durham Police arrested a 32-year-old man from North Yorkshire on burglary charges. The individual has been released on bail as the investigation continues.
Stokes, 33, reported that his family was unharmed, but several valuable items were stolen. Among the stolen possessions were his OBE medal awarded in 2020, three necklaces, a ring, and a luxury handbag. Stokes posted images of the stolen items on social media to help identify the burglars.
Durham Constabulary issued a statement urging the public to assist with the investigation. “Officers continue to appeal for information and anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 543 of 17 October” as per BBC.
The inquiry is ongoing.
