BENGALURU: A 45-year-old trolley operator was stabbed to death in Terminal 1 of KIA Tuesday evening. The victim is Yelahanka resident Ramakrishna and police have detained a suspect identified as Ramesh from Madhugiri in Tumakuru district.
The accused killed Ramakrishna over an alleged affair with his wife dating back to 2021, police said.
The murder took place at 7.15pm when Ramakrishna was arranging trolleys near the airport entrance.Ramesh, who had been waiting for Ramakrishna since evening, stabbed him in the stomach and chest.
As Ramakrishna fell, Ramesh sat beside him and said he killed him as he had an affair with his (Ramesh’s) wife. Ramesh said he will go to the police station and surrender. However, security personnel told him they had already alerted police.
“Ramesh claims Ramakrishna had an affair with his wife in 2021. Since then, Ramesh and his wife developed differences and Ramesh lived alone,” a police officer said.
Knowing that Ramakrishna works in KIA, Ramesh reached the airport and holding the victim’s photo, he enquired with the security about his whereabouts and waited for Ramakrishna near a corner. When Ramakrishna arrived with the trolleys, Ramesh attacked him, a police officer said.
