Australia Could Miss out on 25-Year-Old All-Rounder Ahead of IND vs AUS Border Gavaskar Trophy Series
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green will probably not be a part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India in November because of a potential back surgery following an injury he sustained during the white-ball series against England.
According to ESPNCricinfo, Cricket Australia’s medical and high-performance team are working with Green on a number of recovery plans, including surgery, after he sustained an injury during an away tour for a white-ball series white-ball series against Scotland and England. The all-rounder flew back home after complaining of back issues after the 3rd ODI against England at Chester-Le-Street. Even though the CA medical staff assessed the issues in England, they are seemingly taking their time on it.

Cameron Green has had no major injury issues, but he had four stress fractures. If he chooses to get his back operated on, he could be ruled of the entire summer of Test Cricket for the team, given there is no timeline set as of yet. The 25-year-old all-rounder is a promising prospect for the side, and he could do wonders. But his unavailability could hamper Australia’s strategy when they would face off against the Men in Blue.
Australia may get a new Test opener from Shield cricket if Cameron Green withdraws and Steve Smith drops back to the number four slot. Matt Renshaw, Marcus Harris, and Cameron Bancroft are all potential candidates ahead of BGT.
