Chirag Paswan: Government has reaffirmed commitment to SCs, STs, OBCs | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Union minister Chirag Paswan on Tuesday welcomed the government decision to cancel the latest lateral recruitment process by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and said that the Modi government has reaffirmed its commitment towards SCs, STs and OBCs. The minister said his party is firm that the reservation norm must be applicable for all government jobs.
Responding to a question whether the government withdrew the notification due to opposition from allies, Chirag said this shows how the government is “flexible and sensitive” and listens to the concerns of people. He slammed he opposition parties for calling the government “arrogant” while mentioning, “This is a government to run on suggestions of all. The Narendra Modi government has shown that it is sensible and flexible to take the correct decision after getting feedback. Government should work like this without being adamant.”
He said after understanding the whole issue, the PM took the right decision to protect the interest of SC, ST and OBCs. “Whenever we have raised the right issues before government, those have been addressed…I and my party are committed that any recruitment by government must apply the reservation formula. This is implemented only in government entities,” Chirag said.
Slamming the opposition for “selective criticism” of the NDA government and accusing the previous governments of failure to fill up posts reserved for the deprived castes, Chirag said, “Why did these parties, while in power, not ensure recruitments against posts reserved for SCs, STs and OBCs?”
