CNN replies to Trump supporter on allegations of editing Kamala Harris interview – Times of India

CNN has stated that its recent interview with Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz was aired in full and was not edited, despite claims to the contrary from supporters of former President Trump, reported The Hill.
The interview, which aired on Thursday, had its entirety confirmed by CNN, following speculation that a significant portion of the original 41-minute recording had been removed.
Trump ally questions editing; CNN clarifies
A theory circulating online suggested that the 27-minute interview that aired had been cut down from 41 minutes, with Trump ally Bill Ackman questioning whether CNN would do the same for Trump.
“Is there any world in which @CNN would tape an interview with @realDonaldTrump and edit it for broadcast to remove any inconsistencies, mistakes, or controversial statements?” Ackman posted on X, a statement that has since been deleted.
As per The Hill, CNN assured that the interview was uncut. At the beginning of the programme, Dana Bash, the interviewer, mentioned that the full interview would be shown. Trump and his supporters criticised the decision to pre-tape the interview, suspecting it was a tactic to avoid any potential slip-ups from Harris.
Harris faced media, addressed key issues
The interview was a significant moment for Vice President Harris, who has faced criticism for not engaging enough with the media and mainly speaking with the aid of a teleprompter. This appearance allowed her to respond to questions spontaneously.
Harris emerged from the interview without any notable missteps. She addressed accusations from the GOP that her policy stances had shifted since her 2020 presidential campaign, affirming that her “values” remain unchanged.
She emphasised the need to combat climate change while largely steering clear of the controversial politics surrounding fracking.
When questioned about remarks made by Trump regarding her race, Harris dismissed them, stating it was the “same old, tired playbook,” and requested to move on to the next topic.
Following the interview, Trump criticised Harris, labelling her as “defective.”
