Congress leaders receive notice from X over sharing clips from Amit Shah's Rajya Sabha speech: Report

NEW DELHI: The Congress and some of its leaders on Wednesday received a notice from social media platform X for sharing clips of Union home minister Amit Shah‘s reply to the Constitution debate in which he spoke about B R Ambedkar and attacked the opposition over it.
According to the PTI citing Congress sources, X’s communication referenced a notice from the home ministry’s Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, stating that the shared content violated Indian law.
X’s message to the Congress emphasised its firm commitment to upholding users’ freedom of speech and expression on the platform.
Several Congress MPs and leaders had distributed a video segment from Shah’s Tuesday speech in Rajya Sabha, where he discussed B R Ambedkar during the debate on the Constitution’s 75-year journey and criticised the opposition.
In his speech, Shah accused the Congress of being anti-reservation and said it never worked for the benefit of the backward classes. The home minister launched a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He also slammed Congress for finding faults in the election whenever they lose.
After Shah’s statement, Congress sought Shah’s apology and said that the PM should sack the home minister from his cabinet for insulting BR Ambedkar and also to stop the people from protesting.
“Our demand is that Amit Shah should apologise and if PM Modi has faith in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar then he should be sacked by midnight… He has no right to remain in the cabinet, he should be sacked only then people will remain silent, otherwise, people will protest. People are ready to sacrifice their lives for Dr BR Ambedkar,” he said.
Shortly after Kharge’s demand, Shah addressed the matter at BJP headquarters through a press conference to clarify his position. He accused Congress leaders of manipulating facts and misrepresenting his Rajya Sabha remarks about Ambedkar.
The Home Minister claimed that Congress initiated this negative campaign after the Constitutional discussion revealed the opposition party‘s stance as being opposed to both Ambedkar and reservation policies.
