Couple charred to death in UP as electric cable falls on bike | Bareilly News – Times of India

BAREILLY: A couple died when a high-tension power line of 110V broke and fell on their motorcycle near Musajhaag police station in UP‘s Budaun district around 5.30 pm while the couple was returning home after visiting a relative in Wazirganj, police said on Friday.
A purported video of the incident got widely circulated on social media which shows the victims engulfed in flames.The motorcycle caught fire instantly upon contact with the fallen power cable, giving the couple no chance to escape. Despite efforts from locals and police, both individuals succumbed to their injuries within minutes.
Those dead include Ved Pal, 46, and his wife Meena Devi, 50, from Dudhari village. Shivam Kumar, Ved’s cousin, said, “It is the negligence of the power corporation.” CO (Dataganj) Krishna Kumar Tiwari said, “We are investigating the matter and action will be taken.”
