This ginger giant got so overweight as he had been surviving on a bizarre diet of cookies and soup.
It is said that the hospital staff liked feeding him to the point where things became a little crazy.
As per the spokesperson of Matroskin Shelter in Prem, “Kroshik’s story is an unusual case where excessive love led to excessive feeding.”
Kroshik is now being cared for by the same shelter. The overfed tabby’s size even made it difficult for vets to perform an ultrasound during his initial medical exam.
To get Kroshik back to a healthy weight, shelter staff have put him on a strict diet and are working to gradually reintroduce exercise.
Walking, let alone running, is still a challenge for the hefty kitty. Once mobile, he’ll even start treadmill workouts to help shed the extra pounds.
Crumb’s case is a reminder of the health risks of overfeeding pets. His story is part of a growing trend of obese cats finding their way to shelters.
Earlier this year, an almost 13kg lb cat named Frosty was rescued in Virginia. Whereas in the UK a cat named Moses is now doing aqua aerobics to slim down from 10kg.
For now, Crumb’s journey back to a healthier weight continues at the Matroskin Shelter, where he’s receiving all the care and attention needed — minus the extra treats.
