LUCKNOW: Two miscreants allegedly gang-raped a 14-year-old Dalit girl, taking turns, during which the survivor was beaten with bricks with an aim to kill her to hide the crime. The horrific crime occurred in the Bakshi Ka Talab police station area late on Saturday. An FIR was lodged on Sunday.
The police identified one of the miscreants of the same village in BKT, while the name of the other accused was being ascertained.
It was around 8 pm when the survivor had gone near Asti crossing when the accused crossed her path.
The duo started stalking her and, on finding her on a lonely stretch, caught hold of her and dragged her to the thickets where they took turns, the police said based on the complaint. She said the accused also used caste-ist slurs. “Not only this, they hit at my face with a brick with the intention to kill me. They attacked me many times on the back and other body parts and left me when they thought I was dead,” the survivor said. They fled the scene later.
She said that she regained her senses a little later and somehow reached her home and informed the family. Police said that they were awaiting the survivor’s statement before a magistrate, while one of the accused has been detained and interrogated. DCP, North Zone, Abhijit Shankar, said that an FIR was lodged under gang-rape and other charges along with the ST/SC Act and the probe is on.
