Delhi traffic fine reduction: Timeframe for settlements
According to the government’s plan, once the notification is issued, offenders will have 90 days to settle any existing challans. For new violations occurring after the notification, the time frame for settling fines is set at 30 days.
This initiative focuses on compounding traffic violations under select sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, making it easier for drivers to settle their fines. The plan empowers officers of the Delhi Traffic Police, starting from the rank of head constable, and officials from the transport department to compound these offences. Additionally, Assistant Traffic Inspectors (ATIs) of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will be granted similar authority. (Inputs from PTI).
