NEW DELHI: Delhi CM Atishi, who is contesting assembly polls from the Kalkaji seat, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Sunday to fight elections.
Asking for the contribution to her election campaign on X, Atishi wrote: “Together, we can continue this journey of progress and hope.”
“Over the past 5 years, you’ve stood by me as an MLA, a minister, and now as the chief minister of Delhi. None of this would have been possible without your blessings and support. As a young, educated woman, your belief and donations have enabled me to imagine a career in politics—a path I couldn’t have walked alone. Now, as we face another election campaign, I need your support once again,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader wrote.
Atishi will take on former MP and BJP’s Ramesh Bhiduri from the seat.
“The BJP gains power through money and earns money when in power. They might have earned so much that they don’t need to collect money for elections. But we run our government with honesty, run our houses through salaries. That is why we want people’s support to fight elections. Today when we are doing crowd funding, then it is the biggest proof of our honesty… With BJP’s candidate list, it has become clear that they are not finding candidates for the elections. They are still to announce 12 candidates,” Atishi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
AAP’s election campaign is in full swing for the upcoming Delhi elections, with its supremo Arvind Kejriwal being at the centre of its electoral campaign.
The party has started displaying billboards across the city featuring a prominent picture of the former CM interacting with people alongside the slogan “Phir Laenge Kejriwal.”
The billboards predominantly feature images of the former CM in situations where he is receiving blessings from citizens or engaging with ordinary people.
Party functionaries stated that the election campaign would focus on Kejriwal’s leadership and his achievements, drawing comparisons with other states.
Senior party functionary Durgesh Pathak said, “Phir Laenge Kejriwal is not our slogan but of people of Delhi. Wherever we go, people say that they want to vote for AAP so that Kejriwalji once again becomes CM of Delhi.” Kejriwal resigned in Sept as the chief minister, after which Atishi took charge.
