'Deserve Oscars for acting': Jaya Bachchan accuses BJP MPs of faking injuries after Parliament scuffle

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan on Friday accused BJP MPs of faking injuries sustained during a recent confrontation in Parliament, calling their performances “staged” and suggesting they deserved awards for their acting.
The remarks came after BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajpur were reportedly injured during a protest by the INDIA bloc on Thursday, which was protesting alleged disrespect towards Dr BR Ambedkar.
Responding to the BJP’s allegations, Bachchan scoffed, “Sarangi ji is staging a drama. What did he even do during his time in Odisha?”
Speaking to reporters, Bachchan said, “We were proceeding towards the House, but these (NDA) leaders blocked our way at the stairs. If someone gets a slight push in such a situation, it’s natural for them to fall,”
She further added, “Sarangi ji, Rajpur ji, and the woman from Nagaland have delivered better performances than I ever did in my acting career. They deserve Oscars and all the awards for their acting. This was as scripted as any film.”

Jaya also accused the BJP of being quick to level baseless allegations. This followed claims from the BJP, which accused leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, of “deliberately pushing” the BJP MPs, resulting in their injuries.
Additionally, Nagaland BJP MP Phangnon Konyak alleged that Rahul Gandhi “misbehaved” with her during the altercation, making her feel “uncomfortable.”
Rahul Gandhi, however, denied the accusations, asserting that he, too, was pushed during the scuffle.
Following the scuffle, the opposition on Friday organized a protest march from Vijay Chowk to Parliament, demanding an apology and resignation from Amit Shah, whom they accused of making “derogatory” comments about the Dalit leader.
The INDIA bloc has also condemned the FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi, claiming it was a “diversionary tactic” by the BJP. According to the opposition, the FIR aims to shift attention away from the remarks made by Amit Shah regarding Dr Ambedkar.
