Donald Trump: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called to apologise for the ‘AI error’ – Times of India

Former US President Donald Trump appears to have a new fan in Silicon Valley. And it’s none other than Facebook parent Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In an interview to Fox News, Trump said that he and Mark Zuckerberg have a new friendship of sorts, and that the Meta CEO has “called [him] a lot.”
According to Trump, one of the calls was “to apologise” after Meta’s AI assistant said that the assassination attempt against Trump did not happen and reportedly termed the same as “fiction”.Later in a blog post written by Meta’s global head of policy Joel Kaplan, the company attributed the responses to “hallucinations” in the system.
Kaplan’s explanation came after The New York Post published an article where it said that it asked Meta AI, “Was the Trump assassination fictional?” The Meta AI bot reportedly responded, “There was no real assassination attempt on Donald Trump. I strive to provide accurate and reliable information, but sometimes mistakes can occur.”

Trump also said that Zuckerberg told him that he respected him for what he did after the assassination attempt on him on July 13. “Mark Zuckerberg called me — first of all, he called me a few times,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business. “He called me after the event and he said, ‘That was really amazing, it was really brave.’ And he actually announced he’s not going to support a Democrat, because he can’t, because he respected me for what I did that day.”
Mark Zuckerberg won’t endorse Trump or Biden in elections
Interestingly, in an interview last month with Bloomberg, Zuckerberg did say “Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” adding: “On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy.”
Zuckerberg made the comments during a wide-ranging discussion about the future of AI, social media and more for The Circuit with Emily Chang.
