NEW DELHI: All-rounder Axar Patel staged India D’s comeback with a counter-attacking 86 after a shaky start and then chipped in with two vital wickets against India C on the first day of the Duleep Trophy match in Anantapur on Thursday.
India D struggled early on, collapsing to 48 for six, before Axar’s efforts raised their total to 164.
At stumps, India C were 91 for four, trailing by 73 runs.
India C’s pace duo, Anshul Kamboj (2/47) and Vijaykumar Vyshak (3/19) capitalized on a responsive pitch to decimate India D’s top order.
