Elderly Man Dies After Falling From Bus While Spitting Tobacco | Lucknow News – Times of India

Man falls to death while spitting tobacco from moving bus in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: A 65-year-old man died after falling from a moving AC bus while trying to spit tobacco in Sultanpur on Saturday.
The incident took place near Beehi village on Purvanchal Expressway when the bus was on its way to Azamgarh from Lucknow.
The deceased was identified as Ram Jiyawan of Chhatri Road, Chinhat.
“The passenger was chewing tobacco. He opened the bus door to spit. However, he lost his balance and fell out of the moving vehicle. He succumbed to the injuries on the spot,” said bus driver Harishchandra Tiwari.
Upon receiving the news, officials from the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) along with local police arrived at the site. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Sub-Inspector Ramdev Kumar said the deceased’s family has been informed and the body sent for postmortem.
Baldirai SHO Dheeraj Kumar said the victim’s son and daughter-in-law are police constables and have given in writing that they do not want any further action or investigation in the matter.
Kumar added that, however, police will conduct a preliminary inquiry as it is a SoP in such cases of deaths. He added that prima facie it looks like a case of accidental death.
“We have also taken statements of other passengers,” he said.
The deceased was a farmer and travelling from Lucknow to his village in Azamgarh.
