Elon Musk says that the Tesla cybertruck that was linked to a suspected terrorist attack in the US will soon be back on road. A Tesla Cybertruck erupted in flames outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on January 1, leaving the driver dead and seven others injured. Officials, including the FBI, have launched an investigation to determine if the explosion was an act of terrorism. Witnesses captured dramatic footage of the vehicle consumed by flames, both from inside and outside the hotel.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla CEO said that the battery pack of the cybertruck ‘never even caught fire and the tires are still inflated’. Musk was replying to a post by X user Shibetoshi Nakamoto who shared an image of the cybertruck in flames, right outside the Trump Hotel.

“The idiot who did the terrorism probably didn’t expect the aftermath picture of the mostly intact cybertruck next to trump tower to look so badass,” the post was captioned. Musk replied to it saying “The battery pack never even caught fire and the tires are still inflated! Once we get this Cybertruck back to Tesla, we’ll buff out the scratches and get it back on the road.”
‘Terrorists’ picked wrong vehicle
“The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken,” Musk wrote in a post.
Incidentally, both the Cybertruck and the vehicle used in the New Orleans attack had been rented through car-sharing service Turo. Terming it a likely terror attack, Musk wrote, “Appears likely to be an act of terrorism. Both this Cybertruck and the F-150 suicide bomb in New Orleans were rented from Turo. Perhaps they are linked in some way.”
