CPL 2024: St Lucia Kings clinched their maiden CPL title and Faf du Plessis was over the moon following the win. The captain of the CPL franchise may have taken a leaf out of Rohit Sharma ‘s book as that was pretty evident during the celebration.

Following the win, Faf recreated Rohit’s iconic slow-motion walk from the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy celebrations. St Lucia Kings beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets on Sunday to clinch the prestigious title.

Asked to bat first, the Warriors managed to post 138 for eight in 20 overs. Eventually, that was not good enough for the Kings, who went over the line with 11 balls to spare. Roston Chase, who picked up a crucial wicket and then scored 39* off 22 balls, was the player of the match.
‘Think 10 or 15 years they have been waiting’
“Happy for the guys, they have been here (Sammy and Co.) for a long time. Think 10 or 15 years they have been waiting for the trophy to come home. Very happy with the bowling effort. At the toss I wasn’t quite sure what to do and I felt like when they posted 138, when we walked off we were positive. I think in both the innings, last 2-3 overs really made the difference,” Faf said after the win.

“The group of guys here, no superstars, we had different guys putting their hand up at different stages of the competition, so as a team I am really extremely proud of the guys. There was an excitement at the start of the competition in St Lucia about is this gonna be the season. First CPL trophy and it is a great achievement,” he added further.
