The Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team announced several changes in the team’s internal structure after signing a new technical director. Ferrari has been hunting for a new technical director to replace Enrico Cardile and was going after F1 design legend Adrian Newey. Ferrari were up till a point favorites to sign Newey but eventually lost out on his signature to Aston Martin who are expected to announce Newey’s signing any day now. Ferrari then began looking for a new technical director within the team as Fred Vasseur claims he has great trust in his people.
Serra Announced As New Technical Director
Ferrari released a team statement in which they revealed that Loic Serra would be taking the role of the technical director at the team. Amongst the appointment of Serra, several other changes were also announced by the Italian team.

“Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that it has entrusted the role of Technical Director Chassis to Loic Serra. As previously announced, the French engineer, born in 1972, will join the team on 1 October. Loic in this new role will report directly to the Team Principal, Fred Vasseur. Serra will therefore be responsible for the following departments: Chassis Project Engineering, headed up by Fabio Montecchi; Vehicle Performance, headed up by Marco Adurno; Aerodynamics, headed up by Diego Tondi; Track Engineering, headed up by Matteo Togninalli and Chassis Operations, headed up by Diego Ioverno, who also continues in the role of Sporting Director.

The role of Technical Director Power Unit continues to be assigned to Enrico Gualtieri reporting directly to Fred Vasseur,” said Ferrari in their team statement.
Former Mercedes Men To Be Reunited
Loic Serra joined Ferrari last year after he left Mercedes. He will be reunited with Lewis Hamilton who will also be leaving Mercedes at the end of the season and joining Ferrari. Serra was one of Fred Vasseur’s big signings last year and Lewis Hamilton followed suit in that train as both Mercedes men have swapped the silver arrows for the red overalls.
