‘Fifty percent confirmed India is coming to Pakistan for Champions Trophy’ – says Rashid Latif | Cricket News – Times of India

The Champions Trophy is set to make a comeback to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) calendar after a gap of seven years, and Pakistan will host the event from February 19 to March 9. However, India’s participation in the tournament remains a question mark, owing to the tense political relations between the two countries.
While there have been reports of India wanting to play their matches at a neutral venue as part of a hybrid model of the tournament, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif believes that India will travel to Pakistan, which is now fifty percent confirmed.

“If Jay Shah has been elected unopposed (as the ICC chairman), it means that the Pakistan Cricket Board has also provided its support,” said Latif on a YouTube channel.

The former stumper believes that the development is like a “fifty percent confirmation that India is coming to Pakistan.”
Shah, who has been the honorary BCCI secretary since 2019, will take over as ICC chairman from Greg Barclay on December 1.
Latif also praised Shah for the body of work he has done as an administrator.
“Jay Shah’s work has so far been beneficial for cricket, be it for the BCCI or ICC,” said Latif.
Since being the co-hosts of the 1996 World Cup, Pakistan have not hosted any major ICC event. The 2023 Asia Cup had Pakistan as the designated host nation. However, India played their matches in Sri Lanka.
India last travelled to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2008.
