FIR against BJP functionary for ‘raping’ woman at gunpoint in UP

AGRA: An FIR has been registered under BNS sections of rape against a BJP functionary in Mathura after a woman from Delhi claimed that she was sexually assaulted by the accused at gunpoint on the pretext of offering her a job.
SHO of highway police station, Anand Kumar Shahi, said on Sunday: “The FIR was registered under BNS sections 64 (1) (rape) and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) against the accused. The woman will be produced before the magisrate to record her statement. The case is being investigated in detail and further action will be taken accordingly.”
Refuting the allegations, the accused, who is an ex-national executive member of BJP’s Kisan Morcha and a leader of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, said, “Accusations levelled against me are baseless and an attempt to tarnish my image…”
In her police complaint, the woman, who lives in a colony in Delhi, claimed she became acquainted with the man via Facebook and they had been “communicating for about four years”.
“The accused runs an NGO. In Sep, we were discussing NGO related projects, and on Sep 14, he called me to Mathura on the pretext of employment. I reached Narhauli intersection with my friend. From there, he and his associate took us in a vehicle to GS Farm on Govardhan Road, and we started talking in a room. Then he asked his associate and my friend to step out for a work-related discussion and bolted the room. To my utter shock, he took out a pistol, forcibly pulled me towards him and raped me. He also threatened to kill me if I told anyone about the crime. He later dropped me at the bus stand, and instructed me to come alone next time,” the complainant said.
The next day, she informed the local police, but due to the accused’s “influence in society”, the cops ignored her complaint, the woman said, adding that she continued making rounds of the police station. Later, she took up her case with authorities in Delhi. Subsequently, three months after the crime, the police registered an FIR at Highway police station in Mathura on Friday, the survivor said.
The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault
