Former IFS Dipak Sarmah receives Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to environmental conservation | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Dipak Sarmah was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday, September 11, for his contributions to forest and environmental conservation.
A 1977-batch Karnataka cadre IFS officer, Sarmah played a crucial role in the committee that exposed the Bellary mining scam, which amounted to over one lakh crore rupees.
The award was presented to Sarmah by S P Yadav, the patron of the Indian Forest Service Association, during an event held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ceremony was part of the second Eco Warrior Awards, jointly organized by the Indian Forest Service Association and Indian Masterminds.
Several other individuals were also honoured at the event for their notable work in various fields of conservation. Dr P Ramesh Kumar of Mysuru was awarded for Wildlife Conservation; while Anupam Sharma, DFO Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, was recognized for forest conservation. Pratibha Ahirwar, director of Madhav National Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh), Jones Justine, deputy field director of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, and Varun Jain, deputy director of Sitanadi Udanti Tiger Reserve in Gariyabad, were also among the awardees.
